In the Philippines, the best training ground for a career in insurance is life insurance. In particular Manulife still offers the best training for life insurance agents. Fortunately, my introduction to life insurance came from former Manulife Agency Managers. We adopted completely the successful methods as well as the innovations that suited the current market at that time. After three (3) years of life insurance, my clients would refer to me their non-life requirements e.g. motor car, fire, marine & bonds. So in 1983 I decided to shift gears and move full-time to non-life insurance servicing my clients in life insurance. It was also in 1983, hat the Health Maintenance Organization or HMO started to mushroom. This was in response to the clamor for hospitalization protection packages for families as well as corporate accounts. At that time, cost of Hospitalization was beginning to be a big drain to the family budget. Again, I was fortunate enough to plant the seeds to this emerging market. Presently, more than 60% of my portfolio is with hospital business. In a span of 16 years, we have developed our own market niche in the insurance industry. The expansion is not only in traditional lines such as motor car, and fire, but other products such as pre-need e.g. educational plans, memorial, pension plans and hospitalization benefits. Despite competition from fellow agents and insurance brokers, our quality and excellence service distinguishes us from the rest. We will and will always be committed to our clients providing them with services not in terms of competitive premiums as well as quick claims. |
